Social Service Agent on Duty Killed by Signal-Violating Cargo Truck
A social service worker who was returning to work after lunch was hit and killed by a cargo truck that ran a red light at a crosswalk.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 1st that they have booked the cargo truck driver B (62) without detention on suspicion of causing death by hitting a man in his 20s, A, who was crossing the crosswalk (violation of the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents), and are currently investigating.
B is suspected of hitting and killing A (22), who was crossing a crosswalk on a two-lane one-way road in Yuchon-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around noon the previous day.
At the time of the accident, B was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license, and A, who was a social service worker at a public institution, was returning after having lunch, according to the investigation.
