Promotion of Gangnam-gu Medical Tourism Attractions by Foreign Influencers
Launch of Gangnam Medifriends Creators in June, Influencers Promote on SNS in Five Countries Including Indonesia and Thailand
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will officially operate the ‘Gangnam Medifriends Creators’ from June to promote ‘Gangnam as the No.1 Medical Tourism Hub’ worldwide.
Since 2010, the district has been operating multilingual social media channels for medical tourism promotion, currently managing seven channels in four languages (English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian).
To attract the increasing number of foreign patients, a public recruitment was held last April to promote using local influencers.
Among 23 applicants, five influencers from key target countries?China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Russia?were selected. They include power influencers with 1.5 million TikTok followers and influential creators on local SNS platforms such as YouTube and Xiaohongshu.
They will be active until December this year, producing videos to promote ▲medical tourism partner institutions ▲Medical Gangnam platform ▲major tourist attractions in Gangnam ▲Gangnam Medical Tour Center opening ceremony ▲Gangnam Medi Tour Festa ▲Gangnam Festival, among others.
Additionally, through monthly content creation missions, they will promote Gangnam medical tourism on their own SNS accounts, with activity fees and small prizes awarded to those who complete the missions.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We will effectively promote Gangnam’s excellent medical system and tourist attractions by utilizing overseas influencers,” and added, “We will continue to pursue various marketing efforts to attract foreign patients and enhance Gangnam’s status as a leading city in medical tourism.”
