KOSPI Repeated Fluctuations in Early Session Around Steady Range...2570 Level
In the early session on the 1st, the KOSPI index remained flat.
As of 9:17 a.m. that day, the KOSPI index was trading at 2,577.29, up 0.17 points (0.01%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2,572.56, down 4.56 points (0.18%). Individuals sold about 17.7 billion KRW worth, while foreigners and institutions net bought approximately 13.5 billion KRW and 4.4 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Naver (NAVER) rose 1.25%, LG Chem 0.72%, Samsung Biologics 0.26%, and Samsung SDI 0.14%. On the other hand, Kia fell more than 2%, marking the largest decline. Following were SK Hynix (-1.47%), Hyundai Motor (-1.45%), LG Energy Solution (-1.00%), and Samsung Electronics (-0.14%). POSCO Holdings remained flat.
By sector, medical precision (1.67%), electric and gas utilities (1.39%), insurance (1.01%), chemicals (0.93%), paper and wood (0.68%), and services (0.52%) showed strength. Conversely, transportation equipment (-0.77%), transportation and warehousing (-0.50%), food and beverage (-0.48%), and electric and electronics (-0.31%) declined.
On the 31st (local time), the U.S. stock market closed lower ahead of the debt ceiling agreement vote. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 134.51 points (0.41%) to 32,908.27, the large-cap S&P 500 index dropped 25.69 points (0.61%) to 4,179.83, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq index declined 82.14 points (0.63%) to 12,935.29.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index also showed an upward trend, rising 2.10 points (0.25%) to 859.04 compared to the previous trading day. Individuals were the sole net buyers with about 59.2 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold approximately 28.3 billion KRW and 28.1 billion KRW, respectively.
