Guam International Airport to Resume Operations on 29th... Stranded Travelers to Return Home via National Airlines
Guam International Airport, which was closed due to damage from Super Typhoon Mawar, will resume operations starting on the 29th. Accordingly, Korean Air passenger flights are scheduled to transport about 3,400 Koreans stranded locally.

View original imageThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 28th, "(local time) Guam International Airport is scheduled to resume operations at 3 PM on the 29th," adding, "The national carrier (Korean Air) will arrive in Guam at 5 PM and depart for Incheon at 7 PM."
The Guam airport authorities had initially planned to resume operations on June 1 but advanced the reopening date to the 30th of this month, continuing restoration work. Fortunately, the work progressed faster than expected, leading to the schedule being moved up by one day.
Guam, a Pacific resort hit hard by Typhoon Mawar, had its international airport closed on the evening of the 22nd, leaving about 3,400 Korean tourists stranded.
The government has set up three temporary shelters in Guam for citizens unable to return home. These shelters are reported to accommodate a total of 135 people. Temporary clinics have also been operating since that day.
