Until now, the “Resident Participation Budget School” required residents to visit a specific location to receive education, but to support residents’ participation in the resident participation budget system, the county decided to operate it in a visiting format for the first time this year.
The education started on April 26 in Bogil-myeon, and in May, it was conducted for resident autonomy committees, village chiefs, social and civic groups in Geumil-eup, Yaksan-myeon, Wando-eup, Nohwa-eup, and Gunoe-myeon. The remaining eup and myeon areas are scheduled to be visited in June.
The county plans to conduct education tailored to various groups such as youth, young adults, women, multicultural families, and people with disabilities in the future to ensure that voices from diverse social strata are reflected in the budget.
The education program consists of △ understanding the resident participation budget system △ current status of resident participation budgets △ excellent cases of resident participation budgets △ methods for discovering projects and writing proposals, providing practical content to facilitate the smooth operation of the resident participation budget system.
A county official said, “We hope that through this education, residents will be able to develop the capacity to directly discover and propose projects they need,” adding, “We hope the resident participation budget system will become a starting point where residents themselves identify local issues and propose solutions, leading to regional change and development.”
Meanwhile, last year, the county reflected 1.2 billion KRW in the resident participation budget for 20 projects, including the installation of docking facilities for emergency patients in Geumil-eup and the creation of the Millennium Forest in Mundapwol, Yaksan-myeon.
