On the 23rd, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held a meeting of the ‘Gumi City Infectious Disease Response Regional Council’ at City Hall to establish a joint response to infectious diseases and a public-private partnership.
At the meeting, Vice Mayor Kim Hoseop, the chairman, along with representatives from emergency medical institutions, private organizations, and related agencies attended to share the city’s COVID-19 response and achievements, international trends in infectious diseases, and the government’s response directions.
In particular, a special lecture titled “What Should We Do About Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Future?” was given by Lee Gwan, Director of the Gyeongbuk Infectious Disease Management Support Group and professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Dongguk University. This was followed by a discussion on the city’s future measures against infectious disease outbreaks and the roles and cooperation plans of related organizations and groups.
The city is making every effort to contribute to protecting and promoting citizens’ health by promptly and accurately responding to infectious disease outbreaks, preventing the spread of infectious diseases, and minimizing damage through the promotion of the ‘Operation of Gumi City Infectious Disease Response Regional Council,’ a campaign pledge of the 8th local government administration.

Vice Mayor Kim Hoseop (Chairman), who presided over the meeting, said, “Gumi City’s COVID-19 response over the past three years was thanks to the dedicated cooperation of institutions and organizations,” adding, “The city will do its best as the community control tower for infectious disease response.”
