Dongdaemun-gu, Recruitment of Participants for 2023 Second Half Public Jobs

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that it is recruiting 337 participants for the ‘2023 Second Half Public Jobs’ program aimed at supporting the livelihood and employment stability of vulnerable job seekers.
The public jobs consist of Donghaeng Jobs (formerly Safe Jobs) and Community Jobs, with 321 positions available for Donghaeng Jobs and 16 for Community Jobs.
Applicants for ‘Donghaeng Jobs’ must be at least 18 years old as of the project start date, capable of working, residents of Dongdaemun-gu in need of livelihood support (such as vulnerable job seekers), with a household income at or below 75% of the median income and total household assets and income not exceeding 400 million KRW.
Compared to the first half of the year, about 10 additional positions will be recruited, totaling 321. Working hours vary by project but are limited to 6 hours per day, with a 5-day workweek as the standard.
Wages are based on the 2023 minimum wage (hourly 9,620 KRW), with daily pay of 58,000 KRW for 6 hours, 39,000 KRW for 4 hours, and 29,000 KRW for 3 hours.
Applicants for ‘Community Jobs’ have the same eligibility criteria as Donghaeng Jobs but also include foreign registration holders. Priority selection is given to those with household income at or below 70% of the median income and total household assets not exceeding 400 million KRW.
The recruitment fields include ▲Knife Sharpening and Umbrella Repair Recycling Project ▲Visiting Multicultural Understanding Education Instructor Training and Dispatch Project, among a total of 6 projects, selecting 16 participants. Working hours are limited to 6 hours per day with a 5-day workweek, and the 2023 minimum wage (hourly 9,620 KRW) applies.
Residents wishing to participate in either program (Donghaeng Jobs or Community Jobs) should bring their ID and visit their local community service center in person to apply between May 22 and 31 (excluding weekends and substitute holidays).
The district will conduct screening and notify successful applicants individually on June 27. The Donghaeng Jobs program runs from July 3 to December 20 (5 months and 18 days), and the Community Jobs program runs from July 3 to October 31 (4 months).
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “With a large number of positions allocated to the Donghaeng Jobs program this year, we hope for active participation from residents facing livelihood difficulties. We will strive to expand public jobs that provide job-related experience in various fields, creating a virtuous cycle that leads to employment in the private sector.”
