The 'Namhae County-Yeosu City Friendship Exchange Event,' wishing for the early commencement and successful opening of the undersea tunnel, was held on the morning of the 19th at Namhae Sports Park.
Namhae County and Yeosu City established a sisterhood relationship last November and have been promoting win-win exchange cooperation in preparation for the undersea tunnel era.
At the event attended by about 200 people including County Governor Jang Chung-nam, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong, Chairman of Namhae County Council Im Tae-sik, Chairman of Yeosu City Council Kim Young-gyu, as well as heads of social organizations and resident autonomy committee members from both regions, awards were presented to contributors to the undersea tunnel project, and a friendship and harmony performance was held.

Furthermore, earlier in April, Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su and Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok signed an agreement to "open the Namhaean era through win-win development transcending administrative districts," raising greater expectations for the pioneering and practical win-win cooperation efforts between Namhae County and Yeosu City.
Governor Jang said, "The Namhae-Yeosu undersea tunnel is a national project symbolizing the harmony between Yeongnam and Honam regions and the Namhaean tourism belt, accelerating balanced regional development," adding, "I hope the friendship exchange between Yeosu and Namhae will be the starting point for opening a new chapter in history."
Mayor Jeong stated, "Starting with securing national funds for the early commencement of the undersea tunnel, Namhae and Yeosu are cooperating closely and steadily preparing to welcome the Namhaean era," and added, "Let us stand tall as the center of the Namhaean global marine tourism belt based on the synergy effect of the undersea tunnel."
