GH, 29 Entries for Gwanggyo Central Plaza Design Competition... Submissions Accepted Until July 5
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced on the 19th that a total of 29 companies have registered to participate in the "Gwanggyo Central Plaza International Design Competition," aimed at completing the pedestrian axis in the central area of Suwon Gwanggyo New Town and creating a complex cultural space.
The Gwanggyo Central Plaza development project, with a total budget of 75 billion KRW, involves the three-dimensional creation of an above-ground plaza with a site area of 11,455㎡ and a total floor area of 12,655㎡, along with an underground cultural space, completing the pedestrian axis from Gwanggyo Jungang Station and the Convergence Town to the Lake Park.
GH will receive submissions from the registered companies by July 5th and select the final winning design through evaluation by six domestic and international judges on July 25th and 26th.
The final winning company will be awarded the basic and detailed design rights worth 3.6 billion KRW. Other prize winners will receive competition compensation of around 100 million KRW in total.
Kim Seyong, President of GH, expressed gratitude for the great interest and participation in this international design competition to enhance the completeness of Gwanggyo New Town, stating, "We hope that excellent works will be submitted so that it can be developed as a representative space of Gyeonggi Province."

Meanwhile, once the winning design is selected at the end of July, the design service will commence in August, and construction will begin in the first half of 2025.
