Boseong-gun Successfully Concludes Jeollanam-do Bonsai Exhibition
Bonsai Embracing Nature, Meet the Best Bonsai in Boseong
The "8th Jeollanam-do Bonsai Exhibition," sponsored by Jeollanam-do and Boseong-gun and hosted by the Jeonnam Branch of the Korea Bonsai Association, successfully concluded.
The "8th Jeollanam-do Bonsai Exhibition" was held for nine days from April 29 to May 7, 2023, during the Boseong World Tea Expo at the Korea Tea Culture Park in Boseong-gun.
Notably, this bonsai exhibition featured over 120 carefully selected large-scale works, and past grand prize-winning pieces were also displayed, elevating the exhibition's prestige.
The grand prize at this exhibition was awarded to Moon Chi-ho for his work titled "Suhae (樹海)," a island juniper cultivated for over 70 years in a pot. This piece, shaped in a root-over-rock style with multiple trunks forming one tree, was highly valued for its elegant old pine tree appearance reminiscent of the sea.
The highest excellence awards were presented to Kim Jae-yeol, Kim Seong-sik, and Kim Bong-chun, while excellence awards were given to Kim Seong-chae, Choi Jun-ho, Kim Jeong-nam, Shin Dae-sik, Park Seong-sun, and Chae Jong-ha.
Additionally, for their contributions to this bonsai exhibition, on the 17th, Im Byeong-min, Kim Bong-chun, and Kim Seong-ho from the Jeonnam Branch of the Korea Bonsai Association received commendations from the Boseong County Governor.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, stated, "Bonsai is a sophisticated hobby enjoyed worldwide, encapsulating the ups and downs of life and the ecosystem of mountains and fields within a small pot, making it both a natural object and a work of art." He added, "I thank everyone who took the time and effort to cultivate and submit their bonsai."
