Miryanggang, Yongdu Nakchabo Transformed into a Natural 'Ecological Rapids'
Miryang City in Gyeongnam has opened early a partially completed section of the Miryanggang Gyodong District River Environment Improvement Project, which is being implemented by the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office.
On the 15th, the city agreed with the Nakdong River Basin Office to open early the Yongdu Weir facility L=202m within the Miryanggang Gyodong District River Environment Improvement Project area.

Civilians are expected to be able to rest by the river, observe the ecosystem of the waterside scenery, and have improved access for visitors to the Arirang Dullegil Trail and Yongdusan Ecological Park.
The facility in the early opening section is the Yongdu Weir located between Sammundong and Gagokdong. The existing concrete structure was improved into a natural ecological weir using eco-friendly natural stones, and stepping stones were installed. Miryanggang has been transformed into a nature-friendly river.
Meanwhile, the Miryanggang Gyodong District River Environment Improvement Project is a project aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens within an eco-friendly living space. It involves an investment of 18.2 billion KRW in the Sammundong to Gagokdong area, started in February 2022, and is scheduled for completion in January 2025.

Park Jaegwon, head of the Construction Division, said, “We appreciate the citizens for enduring many inconveniences due to the river maintenance construction,” and added, “We will continue to strive to make Miryanggang a nature-friendly and waterfront space where residents can enjoy nature by the river.”
