Cheerful Sports Day and Eoullim Camp Held at Haetteuneunjip Lawn

View original imageThis event was promoted as part of the 2023 Hanbit Nuclear Power Operator Support Project to create a harmonious space through exchanges among intellectual and developmental disability welfare institutions within the local community, aiming to improve awareness of people with disabilities by supporting a happy life for people with disabilities and their parents.
Hosted by Haetteuneunjip, the event saw the joint participation of six organizations including Hanuri, Yeonggwang Disabled Daycare Center, Yegurina Disabled Workshop, Yeonggwang Hanuri Developmental Disability Day Activity Center, and Yeonggwang County Intellectual Disability Independence Support Center, with over 200 participants including people with disabilities, parents, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and local residents.
Congratulatory speeches were given by Kang Jong-man, Yeonggwang County Governor; Kim Han-gyun, Vice Chairman of Yeonggwang County Council; and Choi Heon-gyu, Director of Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters, who encouraged the event and expressed hopes for continued interest and support in disability welfare.
They also extended their appreciation to Namgung Gyeong-mun, chairman of Hanuri Disabled Welfare Association and overall representative of the six institutions, as well as to the staff for their hard work.
The Cheerful Sports Day began with a commemorative ceremony including an entrance performance by users and staff united, followed by various games and activities. Supported by the Jeonnam Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center’s ‘Visiting Mobile Welfare Center’ experience booth, the event provided a time of health and healing for both people with disabilities and participants.
A parent of a participant with a disability shared, “I had a joyful day playing games like the snack-eating contest holding hands with my son. I was also very happy to win a prize. If such opportunities arise again, I will definitely participate,” expressing heartfelt gratitude.
Chairman Namgung Gyeong-mun stated, “Despite busy schedules, all guests, people with disabilities, families, volunteers, sponsors, and local residents participated to create new memories and promote harmony and health between people with disabilities and the local community.”
Additionally, Ha Ji-hee, director of Haetteuneunjip which organized the event, said, “I am grateful to all who helped prepare and successfully conclude this wonderful event, including Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters, Hanuri Disabled Welfare Association, Y Food Mart Beopseongpo Branch, Saesaengmyeong Church, and Jeonnam Disabled Welfare Center.”
