On the 18th, Samsung SDS held a 'Cello Square Press Conference' at its Jamsil campus and announced the Cello Square roadmap. The goal is to lead the 'digital transformation of logistics' globally through Cello Square.
Cello Square is a digital logistics platform that allows customers to directly use all services from quotation to booking, transportation, tracking, and settlement. Recently, new features such as ▲data analysis ▲automation ▲carbon emission tracking have been added.
At the announcement, Oh Gu-il, Vice President and Head of the Logistics Division, explained, "Currently, Cello Square is available in 13 countries including China and the United States, and will expand to 16 countries in the second half of the year," adding, "We expect the service to be available in 30 countries by next year."
Cello Square analyzes cargo data in transit to provide transportation information segmented down to the product unit, helping predict future inventory levels. It supports customers with real-time reports on costs and anomalies occurring during transportation, enabling detailed analysis of logistics expenses.
It also has strengths in logistics automation. Using optical character recognition technology, shipping document information is automatically extracted and stored on the platform, and necessary additional documents are generated automatically. Automation features such as using drones for warehouse inventory checks and data entry reduce labor costs and improve processing speed.
Vice President Oh said, "Currently, we are focusing on logistics such as maritime and air transport, but our goal is to include fulfillment and value-added services in Cello Square in the future," adding, "We aim to secure partnerships through data analysis."
Samsung SDS has strengthened its collaboration with maritime transport platform companies to expand the range of services provided through Cello Square. This allows customers to track maritime logistics cargo in real time and check accurate schedule information.
Choi Bong-gi, General Manager of the Cello Square Strategy Team, explained at the announcement, "When cargo going overseas is delayed for special reasons, customers had to go through a long and difficult process of 'logistics company - shipping company - local situation assessment,'" adding, "By using Cello Square, all these processes can be resolved simply by logging in."
When checking quotations, Cello Square provides the estimated carbon emissions generated throughout the logistics process based on distance, transport volume, and other factors, supporting customers' ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
Samsung SDS is also considering applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology to Cello Square. Vice President Oh said, "AI technology is already being used in various services such as data analysis, and we are also considering applying generative AI like ChatGPT," adding, "We want to use AI to quickly detect risk factors by collecting various information and determining whether it will impact logistics."
Samsung SDS expects that the expansion of Cello Square to multiple countries will also help improve performance.
