Hwasun-gun and Korea Tourism Organization Sign Business Agreement for Tourgdure Development Project
Expecting Regional Tourism Effects Through Revitalization of the Gwangwang Dure Project
On the 17th, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Tourism Organization (President Kim Jang-sil) for the Tourism Dure creation project to revitalize local tourism.
The Tourism Dure project is a program launched in 2013 to discover and nurture tourism businesses led by local residents.
In 2023, Hwasun-gun in Jeollanam-do was selected as one of the new Tourism Dure areas in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.
The public contest to select resident communities or businesses to participate in the Hwasun-gun Tourism Dure project was completed on the 27th of last month, and the final selection will be made by June through evaluation.
The newly confirmed resident businesses for 2023, finalized in June, will receive systematic support for startup and growth through customized programs for each growth stage (preliminary, initial, growth) for up to five years and a maximum of 110 million KRW. This includes capacity building (specialized education, field trips), pilot projects, consulting, legal and tax services, and promotional marketing.
County Governor Koo Bok-gyu said, “We will support Tourism Dure PD activities and promotion to ensure the smooth progress of the Tourism Dure project with the Korea Tourism Organization, and we will do our utmost to support the discovery of tourism content unique to Hwasun through the Tourism Dure project so that resident businesses can lead tourism in Hwasun.”

Tourism Dure PD Jeong Gyeong-eun of Hwasun stated, “Through the Tourism Dure project, we will discover resident businesses representing Hwasun and contribute to revitalizing local tourism by developing tourism content that reflects the local characteristics in cooperation with resident businesses.”
