New COVID-19 Cases at 21,797... About 1,200 More Than a Week Ago
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 18th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 21,797, bringing the total to 31,486,904.
The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 4,350 from the previous day (26,147) but increased by 1,226 compared to a week ago on the 11th (20,571).
Due to the removal of indoor mask mandates and increased outdoor activities, the average daily number of confirmed cases over the past week from the 12th to today was 19,363, remaining in the high 10,000s.
Among the new confirmed cases, 30 were imported from overseas. The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 136, down by 11 from the previous day.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths was 18, bringing the total to 34,652 (fatality rate 0.11%).
