HD Hyundai Oilbank Sells Mini Excavators at Gas Stations
From Micro Electric Cars to Excavators Sold at Gas Stations
HD Hyundai affiliates HD Hyundai Oilbank and HD Hyundai Infracore have embarked on a unique collaboration.
HD Hyundai Oilbank announced on the 18th that it will sell 'DEVELON' mini excavators at its directly operated gas stations. DEVELON is a construction equipment brand newly unveiled by HD Hyundai Infracore last January.
Using idle space at gas stations to sell excavators is the first of its kind among domestic oil companies. The two companies focused on the versatility of mini excavators. Unlike medium and large excavators mainly used at construction and civil engineering sites, mini excavators are highly useful in farms, orchards, and country houses, attracting a diverse customer base from construction industry workers to the general public. This is why they turned their attention to gas stations visited by ordinary customers rather than selling through existing dealerships.
The domestic market for mini excavators under 5 tons grew by 52.7% last year compared to 2019, with sales reaching about 4,400 units. HD Hyundai Infracore set a sales target of 1,000 units this year, a 54% increase from 651 units sold last year.
The models sold at gas stations are three types: 3.5t (DX35Z-7), 3t (DX30Z-7), and 1.7t (DX17Z-5). Currently, they are exhibited and sold at four HD Hyundai Oilbank directly operated gas stations in Incheon, Gwangju, Anseong, and Chungju, where customers can consult and even sign contracts on-site. Through this collaboration, HD Hyundai Infracore expands its mini excavator sales channels, while HD Hyundai Oilbank gains brokerage commission revenue.
An HD Hyundai Oilbank official stated, "We plan to gradually expand the mini excavator sales gas stations to 17 locations," adding, "We will continue to introduce differentiated businesses utilizing the gas station platform, such as small electric vehicle sales, game-themed gas stations, and premium self-service car washes."
