Geumcheon-gu 'Open Your Geumcheon Market' Held
Various Programs Including Flea Market, Bazaar, Recycling Exchange, and Upcycling Experience
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will hold the ‘Open Your Geumcheon Market’ event on the 20th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Geumcheon-gu Office Plaza to promote eco-friendly consumption culture and practice reducing carbon emissions in daily life.
This event will be conducted without single-use products and consists of various programs to practice and experience carbon neutrality, including ▲resident-participation secondhand flea market ▲volunteer camp and club joint bazaar ▲recycling exchange and upcycling experience booths.
At the resident-participation secondhand flea market, 50 teams who registered in advance can directly sell or barter secondhand goods. However, commercial sales by vendors and food sales are prohibited in accordance with the event’s purpose.
At the bazaar booth jointly operated by the volunteer camp and clubs, various clothing items such as jeans, knitwear, and children’s clothes will be sold, and to discourage the use of plastic bags, shopping bags will be provided to purchasers.
At the recycling exchange booth, transparent PET bottles (30 pieces), milk cartons (1kg), and used batteries (20 pieces) can be exchanged for one volume-based waste bag (1 piece) or one roll of tissue paper. Each person can exchange up to 5 pieces (rolls) per day.
The upcycling experience booth consists of a sock yarn craft experience booth, a kitchen detergent refill station, and an eco-mileage promotion and registration booth. The sock yarn craft experience is a craft program that uses waste generated during the sock manufacturing process to make pot holders, accessories, and more. Residents who want to use the kitchen detergent refill station should bring an empty container of up to 500ml.
