Gyeongbuk Office of Education to Completely Renovate Classrooms in 48 Special Schools... 2 Billion KRW Budget Allocated
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced on the 17th that it will support a total of 48 special schools (classes) and 65 classes within the province for the ‘Support for Special Schools and Special Class Space Innovation and Environment Improvement Project.’
The special class environment improvement project is designed to provide balanced special education opportunities by school and region for students requiring special education, and to support the improvement of facilities and equipment in aging special classes.

View original imageAdditionally, this project aims to develop a future-oriented special class model that promotes the physical and emotional development of students requiring special education, enhances learning abilities, and nurtures sensitivity through the creation of education demand-centered, space-innovative classrooms.
The main features include creating play spaces that stimulate students’ interests and foster development and sensitivity, psychological stabilization spaces for intervening in challenging and crisis behaviors, learning spaces for career and vocational education such as barista training, crafts, and baking, considerate spaces where students can rest, and personal independence training spaces for students with severe disabilities.
For aging special class classrooms and classrooms lacking disability-centered space arrangements, special classes in kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools will receive up to 40 million KRW per class, and special schools will receive up to 50 million KRW, with a total support budget of 2 billion KRW. The funds will be used for creating career and vocational classrooms, healing spaces, rest areas, leisure spaces, remodeling old classrooms, and purchasing related equipment and supplies.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to promote remodeling or supplementing deteriorated facilities and insufficient spaces through comprehensive environmental improvement consulting. For elementary special classes, this includes spaces for counseling, play activities, physical education, and cooking practice, while for middle and high school special classes, it focuses on creating spaces related to vocational education.
