In Defense of Rep. Kim Nam-guk... Kim Jong-in Says "Mistaking the People for Foolish"
"Kim Jae-won and Tae Young-ho Face Difficulties in Continuing Political Careers"
Regarding Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party who left the party amid suspicions of cryptocurrency worth billions, former People Power Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in criticized the voices of support emerging within the opposition, saying, "It is wrong to assume that the public is so foolish."
On the 16th, Kim, the former emergency committee chairman, said on CBS's 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Battle,' "He may think he is blameless, but as a member of the National Assembly, investing in such cryptocurrencies and engaging in very unclear activities is generally morally unacceptable."
Regarding Assemblyman Kim, former lawmaker Sohn Hye-won suggested forming a new party, saying, "He is an honest and righteous friend, I will save him," and Assemblyman Yang Yi-won-young also defended him, saying, "Is it necessary for progressives to always emphasize morality?"
However, former emergency committee chairman Kim said, "Actually, this cryptocurrency issue is a very absurd situation," and added, "People from progressive parties have not presented what progressive policies really are. In that context, when such so-called cryptocurrency issues arise, I cannot understand how a member of the National Assembly could engage in such behavior."
While Assemblyman Kim claims it is an "intentional leak by the prosecution," former emergency committee chairman Kim dismissed this, saying, "Would the prosecution act without any basis? They must have started because there was evidence."
Regarding comparisons between former party leader Lee Jun-seok's cryptocurrency investments and Assemblyman Kim's investments, he said, "Before becoming party leader, Lee apparently made some money investing in cryptocurrency, but that should not be equated with what Assemblyman Kim, a member of the National Assembly, did."
Within the party, the issue of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's 'leadership' is also being raised in connection with the Kim Nam-guk incident. Former emergency committee chairman Kim said, "If this situation continues, the party could face very difficult circumstances in next year's general election," and added, "I believe Lee himself knows very well what kind of attitude he should take for the sake of the party."

Regarding the People Power Party's disciplinary actions against Kim Jae-won and Tae Young-ho, suspending their party membership for one year and three months respectively, he said, "Their remarks were below the common sense expected of politicians, so I think stricter disciplinary measures should have been taken," and added, "I believe that their political careers will no longer be sustainable following this disciplinary process."
