Mother of Three Gang-Raped on Bus in India... Outrage as Bus Driver Implicated
Bus Driver and Conductor Arrested
A married woman in her 30s was abducted and gang-raped in a stationary bus while on her way home from work in India.
According to local media outlets such as NDTV, at around 11 p.m. on May 11, a 30-year-old woman, the mother of three children, was gang-raped in northwest Delhi.
The victim was returning home after finishing her shift at a factory when she saw a sleeper bus stopped near a bus stop. She approached a man standing at the bus door to ask for the time and claimed that she was then forcibly dragged onto the bus. Local police explained that after the perpetrators brought the woman on board, they drove the bus toward Nangloi and sexually assaulted her during the journey.
It was reported that the woman contacted the police immediately after escaping from the bus. The police subsequently arrested the bus driver and conductor. Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident, including analyzing CCTV footage.
NDTV reported that this case has sparked widespread outrage over the issue of women's safety. India continues to struggle with rampant sexual crimes. A representative case occurred in 2012 in the Indian capital of New Delhi, when a female university student was gang-raped and murdered while riding a bus.
At the time, the victim was a 23-year-old medical student who was assaulted and raped by six men on a moving bus in Delhi before being abandoned on the roadside. She was transported to a hospital but ultimately died. The incident led to silent protests across various states in India, calling for measures to address sexual crimes.

Approximately 30,000 rapes are reported annually in India, but the actual number is believed to be much higher. In March of last year, a foreign female tourist traveling in India was gang-raped, and the man accompanying her was killed. Three defendants who were tried for rape and murder in that case were sentenced to death.
