Eunpyeong-gu Holds Lighting Ceremony for Buddha's Birthday Celebration Tower
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) held a Buddha's Birthday Lantern Lighting Ceremony on the 15th at the Pine Tree Square of Eunpyeong-gu Office.
About 300 people attended, including Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, Seongwoon Sunim of Samcheon Temple, Hosan Sunim of Suguk Temple, Beophae Sunim of Jingwan Temple, Beophyeon Sunim of Open Seonwon, Hyotan Sunim of Simtaek Temple, devotees, and members of the district office Buddhist Association. The event included congratulatory speeches, commemorative addresses, reading of prayers, and circumambulation of the pagoda.
In addition, the Eunpyeong-gu Temple Association and Indukwon Samcheon Temple Welfare Foundation donated 4,220 kg as part of practicing Buddha's compassion. Of this, 3,220 kg was delivered to 161 senior centers in the region, and 1,000 kg was provided to 13 residential facilities for the disabled.
