Hong Jinju Wins Second Round of Champions Classic by One Stroke
Jung Siwoo Takes 2nd Place, Kim Sunmi and Oh Mihyun Tie for 3rd
Hong Jin-joo delivered her first victory on the Senior Tour.
On the 12th, Hong Jin-joo shot 5-under par in the final second round of the KLPGA Champions Classic 2nd event (total prize money 70 million KRW) held at Gunsan Country Club in Jeonbuk (par 72, 5,761 yards), securing a one-stroke win (6-under par 138). She reached the top in only her second tournament of the season and earned a winner's prize of 10.5 million KRW.

Hong Jin-joo exclaimed, "I am really happy and cannot express it in words," adding, "I am thrilled to have won in the second event." Regarding the driving force behind her victory, she reflected, "Thanks to my putting today, I was able to play smoothly. My putting was good, so I didn’t miss opportunities when they came, and I was able to save par in difficult situations." She smiled and said, "My son wanted to see his mom compete and sent a lot of support. I want to express my gratitude to my family who supported me so I could return to tour life."
Hong Jin-joo won her first KLPGA Tour title at the 2006 SK Enclean Solux Invitational and claimed her second victory at the 2016 Phantom Classic. She won the 2006 LPGA Tour Kolon Hana Bank Championship held in Korea and moved to the U.S. tour but returned to Korea in 2010. In 2020, she finished 69th in the money rankings and lost her tour card. Since then, she has been preparing for the Champions Tour through lessons and broadcasting activities.

Jung Si-woo performed well, finishing second (5-under par 139). Last year’s Champions Tour money leader Kim Sun-mi, along with Oh Mi-hyun, Woo Sun-hwa, Lee Yoon-hee, and Kim Hyo-jung, tied for third place (3-under par 141). Kim Min-gi, the winner of the first event of the Champions Classic, finished tied for 30th (6-over par 150).
