Strengthening Oral Care Capacity for Vulnerable Groups... Ministry of Health and Welfare to Operate Specialized Workforce Training
On the 9th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that, together with the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare and the Central Oral Health Care Center for Persons with Disabilities, it will conduct training until November to strengthen the oral health management capabilities of public oral health care professionals (dentists and dental hygienists) working at public health centers, targeting vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities and the elderly.
This training program consists of theoretical education and observational practice. The theoretical education will be held at the Seoul Education Center of the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, and the observational practice will take place at the Central Oral Health Care Center for Persons with Disabilities and 14 regional oral health care centers for persons with disabilities. The program is designed as a differentiated curriculum reflecting the work characteristics of dentists and dental hygienists, and will be conducted a total of six times over three sessions each.
The observational practice will be distributed and conducted across oral health care centers for persons with disabilities nationwide, taking into account the preferred training locations of the participants. In particular, a practice guidebook will be developed to standardize the training content and manage quality, which will be utilized on site.
