Authorities have decided to expand the investigation comprehensively and revise the sales regulations following this incident. When purchasing cyanide, the purpose must be clearly stated, and online sales will be restricted.
Cyanide is not produced in Thailand but is imported by 14 companies. Under current regulations, stores holding more than 100 kg of cyanide must report to the government. Authorities plan to enforce existing regulations related to cyanide distribution more strictly.
The police are also focusing on whether there are accomplices. In this regard, the suspect’s ex-husband, a police officer, has come under investigation, and many cyanide purchasers have been summoned by the police.
The police issued summonses to about 100 people who purchased the same cyanide used by the suspect. Among them was actress Preechaya Pongthananikorn, attracting attention. Preechaya appeared at the police station the previous day and explained that she bought cyanide to remove reptiles attacking her pet dog.
