Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to Prepare Comprehensive Measures for Distributed Energy Activation Within the Year
Park Il-jun, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated on the 4th, "We will strive to enact the 'Special Act on the Activation of Distributed Energy' within the first half of the year."
On the same day, Vice Minister Park visited the energy solution startup 'GridWiz' located in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and made this remark. The Special Act on the Activation of Distributed Energy stipulates the legal basis for the distributed energy integrated power plant project aimed at revitalizing integrated power plants.
The bill passed the relevant standing committee of the National Assembly in March and is currently under review by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee. Integrated power plants are a new type of power plant introduced to stably control and manage electricity produced in small-scale distributed forms such as solar and wind power, and supply it reliably to demand areas.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to prepare a comprehensive plan for the activation of distributed energy within the year, including the introduction of the integrated power plant system, expansion of distributed power sources, fostering startups in the distributed energy sector, power system impact assessment, and development of specialized distributed energy zones.
Vice Minister Park emphasized, "Along with the spread of distributed power sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen fuel cells, the role of integrated power plants, which can efficiently manage small-scale distributed energy and function as a single power plant, is important."
