Over 50 Companies Participated in Business Agreement
$5.9 Billion Achievements Divided and Implemented Across 3 Divisions
The government has launched the ‘Public-Private TF for the Economic Achievements and Implementation of the U.S. State Visit by President Yoon Suk-yeol’ as a follow-up measure to the economic outcomes of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s state visit to the United States.
On the 3rd, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it had established a task force (TF) with related ministries and companies to implement the economic achievements of the state visit and held the first meeting. This action followed President Yoon’s request at the Cabinet meeting the previous day, urging related ministers to take thorough follow-up measures after the state visit.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister for Trade Jeong Dae-jin and attended by related ministries including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korean Intellectual Property Office, as well as over 50 companies and institutions that had signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs). The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and related ministries decided to operate a public-private joint TF to systematically review and promptly implement the U.S. visit achievements, including $5.9 billion in investment attraction and 50 MOUs.
Through President Yoon’s state visit to the U.S. last week, South Korea achieved significant outcomes in ▲ advanced industry supply chain cooperation ▲ advanced science and technology alliance ▲ advanced company investment attraction ($5.9 billion). A ministry official commented, “The Korea-U.S. relationship has expanded from a traditional security alliance to an alliance encompassing various fields such as industry, science and technology, and culture.” Accordingly, the TF will have three subcommittees focused on ▲ investment attraction ▲ MOU achievements ▲ youth talent exchange, each planning to carry out follow-up implementation and monitoring, resolve implementation difficulties, and discover additional achievements.
