Jang Ye-chan: "Controversy over Tae Young-ho Will Influence Ethics Committee... Evidence for Party Affairs Intervention Is Weak"
Jang Ye-chan, the youngest supreme council member of the People Power Party, predicted that the controversy over Tae Young-ho, a supreme council member of the People Power Party, and the 'nomination recording' would "affect the disciplinary results of the Ethics Committee." However, he said the opposition party's claim that this is 'interference in party affairs' is "weakly supported."
On the 3rd, on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Jang, the youngest supreme council member, said, "I think this controversy itself will influence the disciplinary results or sentencing of the Ethics Committee, and the ethics committee members will also examine it very carefully."
In response to the host's question about whether a fact-finding investigation would be conducted, he said, "A fact-finding investigation or verification of facts is about checking whose side is correct when both sides have different positions, but at least now, the positions of Lee Jin-bok, the senior secretary for political affairs, and Representative Tae are the same," adding, "There was no such statement made or heard, but Representative Tae exaggerated to the staff in the lawmaker's office."
He continued, "However, even if such facts are confirmed, since inappropriate content that could cause misunderstandings was disclosed to the public regardless of the reason, Representative Tae should take this matter more seriously, whether by offering an additional apology or taking political responsibility."
Regarding the Democratic Party pointing to this as evidence of 'interference in party affairs,' he said, "the evidence is too weak," adding, "There is no story from this senior secretary, and in fact, I am probably closer to the Yongsan Presidential Office in terms of communication, but I have never once heard any requests related to nominations or anything like that."
