UNIST Professor Jaeyoung Park Receives Minister of Science and ICT Commendation for Contributions to Nuclear Technology in Korea
Professor Jaeyoung Park of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at UNIST received a commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT at the '2023 International Conference on Advanced Nuclear Power Plants (ICAPP)' held on April 24 at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center.
Professor Park, an expert in radioactive waste, was recognized for his contributions to the safe management of radioactive waste through research on efficient volume reduction and safe disposal methods.
His main research area focuses on developing technologies to reduce the volume and toxicity of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste using molten salt electrochemical technology. Professor Park has gained attention for developing technologies that can safely treat radioactive waste that is difficult to handle with conventional methods.
Recently, he has been actively researching corrosion reduction and monitoring technologies for structural materials of molten salt reactors (MSRs), a 4th generation future reactor, and is also conducting research on safety regulatory technologies for the safe disposal of spent nuclear fuel.

The International Conference on Advanced Nuclear Power Plants has been a venue since 2002 for sharing new technologies, information, and experiences in nuclear power generation, inviting global leaders and experts in the nuclear industry and academia to discuss together.
