Three Major Telecoms Launch BMW Vehicle Exclusive eSIM Plan
SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, the three major telecommunications companies, announced on the 2nd that they will launch a dedicated eSIM plan for BMW vehicles.
The vehicle eSIM service allows the use of mobile data by utilizing an embedded identification chip in the vehicle without a separate physical chip. To watch YouTube and other content on the rear-seat monitors of BMW vehicles, wireless data from the carrier must be used, and this is where the vehicle eSIM service is required.
The first vehicle eSIM plans from the three carriers consist of five types in total, and once the provided data is fully used, the service can continue within the shared data limit of the main line.
The vehicle eSIM service is available to BMW vehicle customers with the latest vehicle software version (OS 8) applied and can be subscribed to through the 'MyBMW' app.
It allows immediate use of various services and content embedded in the entertainment system ‘BMW Theatre Screen’ of the BMW New 7 Series, which was launched domestically last December, without any separate network connection procedures.
