Gyeonggi-do, Excellence in Government Joint Evaluation for 9 Consecutive Years... 1st Place in Qualitative Assessment
Gyeonggi Province ranked first (excellent) in the qualitative evaluation of the provincial category in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2023 Joint Evaluation of Local Governments.' With this, the province has become a metropolitan local government that has ranked within the top three in the provincial category for nine consecutive years since 2015.
The government joint evaluation is the only comprehensive government-level evaluation targeting local governments, jointly conducted by 29 central ministries including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, assessing national delegated tasks, national subsidy projects, and major national policies carried out by local governments.
This evaluation was conducted based on the 2022 performance of 17 cities and provinces, using a total of 104 evaluation indicators.
The qualitative evaluation selects two excellent cases for each of the 22 indicators presented by the government. Gyeonggi Province had 16 excellent cases selected, surpassing last year's record of 13 cases, and was again chosen as the top local government this year.

In the case of Leading the Wave of Digital Transformation, Gyeonggi Province was selected as an excellent case for being the first in the nation to establish digital administrative services such as the MyData-based 'Gyeonggi DdokD,' setting up the Gyeonggi Digital Transformation (Gyeonggi DX) Committee and formulating promotion strategies, and promoting organizational restructuring to expand the Future Growth Industry Bureau including the semiconductor industry.
Separately, in the evaluation conducted by the National Evaluation Group, projects such as resource circulation creation and recycling of discarded banners, which involve public-private collaboration to implement a circular economy through production, consumption, collection, and recycling, were selected as excellent cases.
The quantitative evaluation compared the achievement rates of local governments on 82 indicators set by the government, including providing support services for multicultural families, expanding the Together Care Centers, prioritizing purchases in the social economy sector, and timely preparation of essential ordinances according to legal amendments. Gyeonggi Province achieved a rate of 91.5%.

Park Seong-hwan, Director of Opportunity Strategy at the province, stated, "The excellent results in this evaluation are due to the customized education and consulting provided to public officials so far," and emphasized, "We will continue to receive excellent evaluations through periodic performance management and strengthening consulting in the future."
