'Gwangju FC Samucheojang Resignation Pressure' Two Officials Not Prosecuted
Gwangju Metropolitan Government officials accused of coercing the resignation of the Gwangju FC secretary-general have been dismissed without indictment.
On the 26th, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Gwangju Police Agency announced that it had decided not to indict two officials under suspicion of abuse of authority.
The case arose when Mr. A, who worked as the secretary-general of Gwangju FC, filed a complaint against two Gwangju City Hall officials for abuse of authority, claiming he was unfairly transferred.
After Labor Il, the CEO, took office in November last year, Gwangju FC abolished the secretary-general position and reorganized the structure into a two-headquarters system. During this process, Mr. A, then secretary-general, was transferred to the Game Management Support Team.
Subsequently, Mr. A filed a complaint for abuse of authority, alleging that city officials coerced him to resign, and also submitted a petition to the Labor Commission.
The Jeonnam Regional Labor Commission recognized Mr. A's relief application, stating that "all the transfer requirements stipulated in the Labor Standards Act were not met," but the police did not acknowledge the abuse of authority charge.
The police explained, "Considering the conflicting statements between the complainant and the accused, and that even if city officials coerced resignation beyond their scope of duties, no actual resignation occurred, we decided not to indict."

Separately, Mr. A also reported that Gwangju city employees dispatched for management improvement exercised approval authority on behalf of the absent Gwangju FC CEO. Currently, a police investigation is underway on charges of forgery of electronic records.
