People Power Party: "Song Young-gil's 'I didn't know' press conference treats the public like fools"
The People Power Party sharpened its stance on the 23rd regarding the press conference held by former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil about the money envelope allegations related to the party convention, saying, "Do you think the public is stupid?"
Jeon Ju-hye, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, said in a statement that day, "It is fortunate that former leader Song expressed his intention to return quickly," but added, "He continues to distance himself by claiming he was unaware of the money envelope distribution, which is the core of the 'money convention' allegations."
The spokesperson said, "All the recordings from former Deputy Secretary-General Lee Jeong-geun, the 'Pandora's box,' point to 'former leader Song,'" adding, "'(Song asked) if Kang Rae-gu spent a lot of money,' said former Deputy Secretary-General Lee Jeong-geun; 'I talked with Song when he was there,' said Assemblyman Lee Seong-man; and in the recordings of Kang Rae-gu, chairman of the Korea Audit Association, who said that 'Brother Young-gil handled a lot,' there are multiple indications that former leader Song Young-gil was not only aware of the money envelope distribution but also directly involved." He continued, "Even if former leader Song still insists that it was 'Lee Jeong-geun's personal misconduct,' no citizen would believe it."

He emphasized, "The prosecution must swiftly uncover the full truth behind the money envelope allegations," and added, "The Democratic Party should not try to scapegoat by having former leader Song Young-gil leave the party but should actively cooperate with the prosecution's investigation." He further stated, "Just because former leader Song leaves the party does not mean the money he received 'disappears.'"
