Ulsan Office of Education Promotes Character-Friendly School Culture... Selected and Supported 'Areumdri School'
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is set to promote a personality-friendly school culture this year through the enhancement of a character-centered curriculum and the implementation of character education-focused classes.
On the 5th, the Ulsan Office of Education announced that it will support schools by selecting 'Personality-Friendly Areumdri Schools' to assist in organizing and operating distinctive character education programs tailored to each school.
This year, a total of 17 schools were selected as Personality-Friendly Areumdri Schools: 9 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 3 high schools. The Ulsan Office of Education plans to provide financial support ranging from 2.2 million to 2.85 million KRW depending on the school. The term 'Areumdri School' is a pure Korean word meaning a circumference wider than the span of two arms joined in a circle, symbolizing schools where a personality-friendly culture is spreading.
The 'Areumdri School' project emphasizes the practice of character education within the curriculum by reflecting the 'One School, One Character Brand' in the character development field, focusing on theme-based character education and the operation of school-specific special programs.
With the vision of 'Nurturing talents equipped with character competencies to lead future society,' the Office of Education is also promoting policies such as 'Character Growth through Learning,' 'Character Enrichment for Life,' and 'Character Sharing through Joint Practice.'
The Office stated that the consensus on character education will expand through student-led participatory activities, programs involving families, and the development of community-linked programs.
An official from the Office of Education said, "We will actively support students in cultivating moral character and responsible citizenship, ensuring that character education linked to the school curriculum is implemented effectively."
