At around 8:26 PM on the 30th, a fire broke out at a resource recycling facility in Sangdong-myeon, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, and was extinguished by 10:03 PM.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters on the 31st, a large amount of combustible materials such as waste vinyl were piled up at the scene, making firefighting efforts somewhat difficult.
Responding to a report from nearby factory workers, pump trucks, water tanks, aerial ladder trucks, ambulances, and heavy equipment were deployed to the scene.
A total of 86 personnel, including firefighters, volunteer firefighters, police officers, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) employees, worked hard to extinguish the fire.
Two foreign workers who were at the scene at the time evacuated on their own, and there were no casualties.
The fire destroyed two steel-framed sandwich panel buildings measuring 1,117㎡ in total, as well as machinery including three shredders, 100 tons of piled waste vinyl, and 3 tons of solid fuel, resulting in property damage estimated by the fire department at approximately 400 million KRW.
