Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is launching special management targeting recklessly posted political party banners to improve resident safety and urban aesthetics.
Since the revision of the Outdoor Advertising Act last year, political party banners can be installed without separate notification if the display period is within 15 days, and the party name and installation company contact information are displayed.
Complaints about political party banners in Eunpyeong-gu have increased by approximately 17%, and complaints that were previously limited to maintenance requests have expanded to various issues such as expired posting periods, location changes, and content dissatisfaction.
Accordingly, the district has established a special management policy for political party banners. An illegal advertising maintenance team will operate to immediately maintain banners past their posting period and advertisements that threaten the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
The district has established detailed management plans including banner display standards and sent cooperation letters to each political party. It recommends refraining from installing banners in child protection zones, crosswalks, and traffic facilities, and requires that the party name and logo be clearly indicated. The contact information of the installation company and political party must be written in at least 15% of the size of the largest letters for clear visibility.
