[News Terms] 'Sangsaeng Sanghoe' Practicing Mutual Growth Between Regions and Seoul
'Sangsaeng Sanghoe' is a space for urban-rural exchange established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to support local farms and provide sales channels. It is a store that practices 'Sangsaeng (相生)' by offering safe food to consumers and applying low commission fees for producers, aiming for mutual growth between local areas and Seoul.
It is a regional mutual growth exchange center serving as a physical and human exchange hub focused on information exchange, mutual cooperation, and networking between Seoul and local regions. It provides one-stop access to various local resources such as food, tourism, festivals, and jobs from all over the country, and functions as a platform for mutual exchange and cooperation to promote and sell excellent representative agricultural and specialty products.
Sangsaeng Sanghoe opened on November 3, 2018, on the first floor of the Anguk Building near Exit 1 of Anguk Station on Subway Line 3. Currently, 4,710 agricultural, marine, specialty products, and processed foods produced by 1,050 companies from 169 regions are housed here. A regular product selection committee is held quarterly (in March, May, August, and November) to review whether products can be listed.

The name 'Sangsaeng Sanghoe' was chosen through a public contest. Among a total of 729 diverse entries, 'Sangsaeng Sanghoe' was selected for its double meaning, including 'a place where people meet,' 'a store for buying and selling goods,' and 'improving beyond the original level.'
From the 28th, Seoul announced that it will operate a market at Sangsaeng Sanghoe for about a month, showcasing excellent agricultural and marine products from various regions. Specialty products from all over the country, which have signed business agreements with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, will be sold. According to the schedule, direct transaction markets will be held for Gyeongsangbuk-do, Haenam-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Hadong-gun, Cheorwon-gun, and the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute.
