Starting Tomorrow, Lying Down in Class to Disrupt Lessons Will Result in Disciplinary Action... Enforcement of the 'Gyogwon Infringement Notice'
Added 'Intentional Class Disruption' to Types of Educational Activity Infringements
From now on, acts that disrupt classes by ignoring teacher guidance, such as continuously wandering around the classroom or lying down on the podium during class time, will also be classified as 'infringement of educational activities.'
On the 22nd, the Ministry of Education announced that the revised "Notice on Standards for Infringement of Educational Activities and Measures" will be promulgated and enforced starting from the 23rd.
Previously, only acts such as assault, threats, defamation, sexual harassment, and unauthorized recording and distribution of classes were defined as infringements of educational activities. However, the revised notice now includes "acts that intentionally disrupt educational activities by refusing to comply with teachers' legitimate life guidance."
If a student infringes on educational activities, the school can verify the facts and, according to the Teacher Status Act, hold a Teacher's Rights Protection Committee to take measures such as community service, special education, or suspension from attendance.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education decided to prepare countermeasures and revise related laws and notices in response to criticism that the patterns of infringement on educational activities have become more diverse and complex, seriously disrupting school classes.
