Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Korea Expressway Corporation Headquarters Over Alleged Highway Construction Deficiencies
The police have launched a search and seizure operation targeting the Korea Expressway Corporation amid suspicions of collusion with suppliers related to substandard highway lane construction.
On the 16th, the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the National Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Headquarters deployed investigators to execute search warrants at the headquarters of the Korea Expressway Corporation and its Buyeo branch.
The police are investigating allegations that the Korea Expressway Corporation engaged in substandard construction during lane painting work on more than 20 highway sections nationwide in 2021.
The suspicion is that the corporation purchased low-performance construction products that did not meet specifications cheaply from external suppliers.

The police have also booked the supplier involved and are continuing the investigation. In particular, they are examining whether any internal personnel of the corporation were involved in the process.
