Sacheon-si Provides Up to 180,000 KRW in Veterinary Care Support for Low-Income Pet Owners
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province is promoting a veterinary expense support project for low-income households owning companion animals and assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
This support project provides veterinary expense assistance up to 180,000 KRW per household annually, limited to companion animals registered (or to be registered) with an implanted microchip.
The scope of treatment includes companion animal registration fees, preventive measures such as vaccinations to prevent animal diseases, routine veterinary care, and surgeries. However, cosmetic surgeries such as declawing and tear stain removal are excluded. Grooming costs and expenses for purchasing supplies including pet food are also not supported.
Additionally, owners must pay the full veterinary bill at the animal hospital first, then apply for the support amount excluding their own share by visiting the Eup, Myeon, or Dong community welfare center.
