'P3 Leak Allegation' Game Company Raided... Nexon "Will Hold Strict Accountability"
Ironmace, a game company suspected of developing the game 'Dark and Darker' by unlawfully leaking Nexon's project, was subjected to a police raid. Nexon considers this a serious matter that damages not only the company but also the gaming industry and plans to respond thoroughly.
According to industry sources on the 8th, the police raided Ironmace's office the previous day and secured development-related materials. Nexon filed a complaint with the police in 2021 against an Ironmace affiliate, Mr. A, for violating the Act on the Prevention of Unfair Competition and Protection of Trade Secrets.
Nexon had been working on a new project called 'P3' in 2020. At that time, it was confirmed that Mr. A, the P3 project leader, had unlawfully transferred project development information to an external server. It was also confirmed that he proposed to all project members, mentioning external investment attraction, to collectively resign and release a game similar to the P3 project externally.
The following year, Nexon dismissed Mr. A and shifted development direction to start the P7 project. However, in 2022, Ironmace, founded by Mr. A, released a test version of Dark and Darker. Nexon claims that almost every aspect of the game, including the core concept and main gameplay methods, is similar to the P3 project.
Through an internal notice to employees, Nexon stated that this incident is seen as damaging not only the company's interests but also the ecosystem of the content industry, and that strict accountability will be pursued.
