Busan City will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in supporting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo with the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee (hereinafter the Bid Committee) and Lotte Holdings at 10 a.m. on the 8th in the main conference room of the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Support Group on the 14th floor of the Gwanghwamun D-Tower in Seoul.
This agreement was prepared to enable Busan, Republic of Korea, to successfully host the 2030 World Expo by jointly cooperating on bid activities to attract public interest and support ahead of the on-site inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) scheduled for early April, involving Busan City, the Bid Committee, and Lotte Holdings.
At the signing ceremony, Seong-gwon Lee, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan City, Sang-jik Yoon, Secretary General of the Bid Committee, and Gap Lee, Head of Communications at Lotte Holdings, are expected to sign the agreement.
Upon signing the MOU, the three organizations will mutually cooperate in ▲ supporting bid activities related to the BIE on-site inspection ▲ creating nationwide enthusiasm for the bid through publicity ▲ utilizing Lotte Group’s infrastructure for bid activities, and collaborate on other necessary matters for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
With this MOU, Busan City expects to showcase South Korea’s advanced infrastructure to the on-site inspection team by receiving support for accommodations and other infrastructure owned by Lotte Group, and to further raise nationwide enthusiasm for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid through various promotional supports, thereby differentiating itself from competing countries such as Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Seong-gwon Lee said, “South Korea, including Busan City, the government, corporations, and the popular culture sector, is showing more sincerity and interest in hosting the 2030 World Expo than any other country in the world, supporting the bid activities in every possible way.” He added, “We are grateful for the active support and cooperation of the private sector, including corporations, and we will do our best to ensure this effort bears fruit.”
