Gyeonggi-do Fire Department Conducts Survey of Foreign Workers to Develop Fire Prevention Policies
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a fire safety awareness survey targeting 1,000 foreign workers in the province throughout March. This is to utilize the results for safety education and fire prevention policies for foreign workers.
The survey consists of a total of 16 questions divided into three areas: ▲general information such as nationality, gender, age, and length of residence ▲fire safety knowledge including experience with fire safety education and use of fire extinguishers and hydrants ▲fire safety practices such as the presence of fire extinguishers and confirmation of emergency exit locations during work.
The questionnaire was prepared in Korean, English, Chinese, and Vietnamese, considering the fact that the respondents are foreign workers.
The survey will be conducted in cooperation with foreign worker support centers and multicultural family support centers by each fire station.
Based on the results of the fire safety awareness survey, the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters will promote fire safety education and fire prevention policies tailored to the characteristics of foreign workers.
Earlier, from January to February, the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters conducted fire safety consulting at approximately 24,000 workplaces employing foreign workers in the province. Additionally, 200 accommodations in small factories were selected to distribute 400 fire extinguishers and 800 residential fire alarms.
