On the 5th, the Jungbu Police Station in Incheon announced that suspect A was urgently arrested and is being investigated on charges of arson of an occupied building. The police apprehended A around 9:50 a.m. that day after analyzing CCTV footage around Hyundai Market. A police official stated, "At the time of arrest, A was at home," and added, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant after confirming the specific motive for the crime."
A is suspected of setting fire to a store inside Hyundai Market in Songnim-dong, Dong-gu, Incheon, at around 11:38 p.m. the previous day. Although there were no casualties, 55 out of 212 stores were burned. Due to the fire, the fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 2' alert, mobilizing firefighters and equipment from 5 to 6 nearby fire stations. The fire was completely extinguished after about 2 hours and 50 minutes.
