View original imageThe High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department (Chief Kim Jin-wook) has appointed three new prosecutors. Additionally, personnel transfers for the first half of the year were carried out.
On the 24th, the department announced that, following the recommendation of the Personnel Committee and presidential approval, Park Sang-hyun (age 40, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 41), Kim Ji-yoon (age 35, Bar Exam 3rd), and Kim Ki-dam (age 37, Bar Exam 4th) were newly appointed as prosecutors effective immediately.
The department stated, "These three individuals have accumulated experience working respectively in the prosecution, the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department, and legal teams of large corporations after obtaining their lawyer qualifications."
Prosecutor Kim Ji-yoon is the second case of a High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Department investigator being appointed as a prosecutor, following Prosecutor Yoon Sang-hyuk (age 42, Bar Exam 4th).
Prosecutor Park, who graduated from Gwangju Songwon High School and Hanyang University Law School, passed both the 2009 Administrative Examination and Teacher Examination simultaneously. He served as ▲ Public Legal Officer at the Gwangju branch of the Korea Legal Aid Corporation ▲ Public Legal Officer at the Seoul Central branch of the Korea Legal Aid Corporation ▲ Prosecutorial Clerk at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office ▲ Prosecutorial Clerk at Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office before being appointed as a prosecutor at the department.
Prosecutor Kim Ji-yoon, who graduated from Jeonbuk Science High School, Jeonbuk National University Department of Chemistry, and Jeonbuk National University Law School, worked as a lawyer at ▲ Law Firm Dajiwon ▲ Law Firm Ongoeul before serving as an investigator at the department since 2017.
Prosecutor Kim Ki-dam, who graduated from Seoul National University Department of Economics and Yonsei University Law School, worked as a lawyer at ▲ Law Firm Dambak ▲ Law Firm Dajeon ▲ Legal Counsel at Samsung Electronics before being appointed as a prosecutor at the department.
The department announced the recruitment of prosecutors at the end of October last year, and after the first document screening and second interview screening, the Personnel Committee held on January 6 of this year decided on the candidates for prosecutor recommendation.
The Personnel Committee, composed of seven members including the department chief, deputy chief, one appointed by the chief, and four recommended by the ruling and opposition parties, comprehensively reviewed candidates' political neutrality, investigative capabilities, and other essential qualities required of prosecutors to recommend candidates, the department explained.
Meanwhile, the department conducted personnel transfers for prosecutors in the first half of the year. In this personnel move, Kim Seon-gyu, Head of Investigation Division 3, moved to Head of Investigation Division 2, and Song Chang-jin, a former prosecutor with a background in special investigations who was appointed as a division chief on the 17th, was assigned as Head of Investigation Division 3.

On the same day, Prosecutor Kim Su-jeong, Head of Investigation Division 2, and Prosecutor Yoon Joon-sik retired, and with the appointment of three new prosecutors, the total number of prosecutors at the department, which has a quota of 25, became 23. The department plans to pursue additional appointments to fill the vacancies.
