Promise of Military Support to Ukraine
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] U.S. President Joe Biden, who secretly visited Kyiv, Ukraine, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the 20th (local time) and reaffirmed his military support policy.
The White House stated in a statement released as President Biden headed to Kyiv that day.
In the statement, President Biden said, "As the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine approaches, today in Kyiv I met with President Zelensky to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Ukraine's democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
He added, "When Putin launched the invasion a year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and Western countries were divided. But he was completely wrong."
President Biden said, "I will announce the delivery of equipment including shells, anti-armor systems, and air defense radars to protect the Ukrainian people from bombardment," and added, "Also, later this week, I will announce additional sanctions against companies supporting Russian military supplies."
He further emphasized, "Over the past year, the United States has built a coalition of nations to help defend Ukraine with unprecedented military, economic, and humanitarian support," and said, "The support will continue."
