Ulsan City Supports Heating Costs for Daycare Centers... 300 Million KRW from City Funds to 648 Locations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is launching a support project to help daycare centers have a warm winter. Daycare centers excluded from the heating cost support provided to vulnerable facilities such as social welfare facilities since January will also receive support.
On the 17th, Ulsan City announced that it will provide heating cost support to daycare centers struggling with the burden of heating expenses due to the recent cold wave and soaring energy prices. The total budget is 309.2 million KRW, fully funded by the city.
The support targets 648 daycare centers in Ulsan. Heating costs will be supported as follows by facility size: ▲300,000 KRW for centers with 20 or fewer children ▲500,000 KRW for centers with 21 to 50 children ▲700,000 KRW for centers with more than 50 children.
An official from Ulsan City said, "Due to the unprecedented cold wave and soaring energy prices, heating costs have increased, intensifying the economic burden on socially vulnerable groups. We will build a more thorough welfare safety net by supporting households in crisis caused by the cold wave."
In January, Ulsan City additionally supported operating expenses of about 150 million KRW for 252 social welfare facilities (excluding daycare centers) until February, allowing them to use the funds for heating costs.
