[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul City announced on the 16th that it will plan and operate employment support programs this year at 10 ‘Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafes’ to systematically support young people, known as the N-po generation, so that they do not give up on their future and hope through employment counseling, job mentoring, and employment competency enhancement education.
The ‘Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafe’ is a comprehensive employment support space where various employment support programs such as 1:1 employment counseling, job mentoring, employment lectures, resume photo shoots, mock interviews, and study room rentals can be used free of charge. Last year alone, more than 95,000 people used the service.
A total of 10 ‘Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafes’ are in operation. Among them, Seoul City directly operates 3 locations. The 7 job cafes operated by autonomous districts secure facilities and counseling personnel, while Seoul City supports operating expenses for excellent programs.
Starting this year, Seoul City plans to strengthen programs with high demand from young job seekers at the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafes,’ such as self-introduction letter consulting and current employee mentoring, and newly organize and operate programs such as interview consulting and corporate job analysis and counseling.
The three locations directly operated by Seoul City are Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso (Youth Vitality Center) 1 and 2, Seoul Youth Job Center, and Gangdong Job Cafe.
The Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafe with high satisfaction and convenience for job seekers is undoubtedly ‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso.’ Located on the B1 floor of Seoul City Hall, ‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso’ operates specialized programs divided into the 1st Youth Vitality Center, a facility specialized for non-face-to-face interviews frequently used in the employment field after COVID-19, and the 2nd Youth Vitality Center, a comprehensive youth support facility. A total of about 5,400 job seekers used the two Youth Vitality Centers.

Song Ho-jae, Director of Economic and Job Planning at Seoul City, said, “We listened to more than 5,000 job seekers in the field about what support young people preparing for employment need the most and set the operational direction for the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Job Cafes’ in 2023.” He added, “We will operate the facilities to provide programs that young job seekers need and offer practical help to them.”
