USGA, Excludes Korea from This Year's US Women's Open Qualifiers
Overseas Qualifiers Held in Canada, Japan, and Belgium
This year, the US Women's Open qualifying rounds will not be held in Korea.
The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced the schedule for the US Women's Open qualifying rounds on the 14th (local time). The qualifiers will take place from May 10 to June 8 at 23 venues. Qualifying rounds will be held in 17 U.S. states as well as three golf courses outside the U.S. in Canada, Japan, and Belgium. Top finishers in the qualifiers will earn the right to compete in the US Women's Open, which will be held over four days starting July 7 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California, USA.
A notable point in this year's US Women's Open schedule is that no qualifying rounds will be held in Korea or the United Kingdom. Since 2014, the US Women's Open qualifiers have been held in Korea, with the top one or two players earning entry. The qualifiers were suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The USGA has not clearly stated the reason for not holding qualifiers in Korea and the UK. A representative from the Korea Golf Association (KGA) said, "The USGA informed us in advance that they decided not to hold qualifiers in Korea, but they did not explain the reason," adding, "It is speculated that it might be because there is a low participation of high-level professional players in the Korean qualifiers."

Almost no players from the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour participated in the US Open qualifiers in Korea. This is because top-ranked KLPGA Tour players can qualify for the US Women's Open through their world rankings. Last year, players such as Park Min-ji, An Na-rin, Park Hyun-kyung, Lim Hee-jung, Lee Da-yeon, Jang Ha-na, Lee So-mi, Yoo Hae-ran, Yoon Yi-na, and Lee Ga-young earned entry to the US Women's Open based on their world rankings.
