Fire Authorities Urge, "Do Not Hesitate to Report"
A delivery driver saved a person's life by reporting a customer who requested 'bungeotan' (charcoal briquettes) for delivery.
According to Yonhap News on the 14th, Kang Sun-ho (35), who does quick deliveries around Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City, received an order from a customer named A on the 19th of last month. The order included 200g of samgyeopsal (pork belly), one bottle of soju, one butane gas canister, a pack of paper cups, and also one 'bungeotan' (charcoal briquette).
While delivering the items to A's officetel, Kang noticed that A looked unwell. Although he completed the delivery, Kang remained concerned about A's pale complexion and the fact that A had ordered bungeotan. Eventually, he decided to report the situation to 112 just in case.

The firefighters forcibly opened the door and found A unconscious inside due to carbon monoxide poisoning from the bungeotan. After providing emergency treatment, they transported A to a hospital in Jeju City.
Thanks to the prompt action, A has completed treatment and returned to their family. It was reported that A has improved enough to resume normal daily life.
Yang In-seok, chief of Jeju Fire Station, said, "Reporting on behalf of others saved a precious life," and urged, "If you suspect an accident such as a fire or emergency, do not hesitate to call 119."
