AFP cited the coffee franchise 'Starbucks' and noted, in Korea, iced Americano has established itself as a 'national beverage,' selling more than any hot drink even in the middle of winter.
It also highlighted that BTS member Suga is often seen holding an iced Americano, and included interviews with several Koreans who enjoy 'Aa' (short for iced Americano). Ms. Lee Joo-eun, who was interviewed by the media, said, "I only drink iced Americano in winter because it is convenient and tastes good." Despite wearing a fur jacket in minus 17 degrees Celsius, she was holding an iced Americano and added, "It's cold, but I can endure it."
Accountant Lee Dae-hee told the media, "Korea's unique 'ppalli-ppalli' (hurry-hurry) culture has influenced the popularity of iced Americano." The drink can be received and consumed within the fixed lunch break time after a meal.

Meanwhile, according to a 2019 study by Hyundai Research Institute, Koreans drink an average of 353 cups of coffee annually. This figure is twice the global average. The media pointed out that the culture of enjoying iced Americano has even created the unique word 'Eoljukah.'
